Hello Everyone,
With the focus on a start date of March 2014, we are continuing to work on the 3 major fronts, namely, Permissions, Funding and Historical Research.
Permissions
Having received a holding letter very recently, we are awaiting the final outcome of permission to carry out activities in the Cuckney area on land not forming part of St. Mary's Church, Norton Cuckney.
With regard to St. Mary's Church; we have nearly completed the Parochial Church Council (P.C.C.) form, but also need supporting letters to aid this process. These are being requested from English Heritage, The Council for British Archaeology and Nottinghamshire County Council.
Funding
Of the 9 potential sponsors contacted, 1 has declined, 1 may offer a very small cash amount, 6 have not yet been in touch (I will chase these as I did give them a chase date of the 9th December !) and 1 major commerical organisation (with which we have had 2 previous contacts), has requested a detailed (persuasive) information pack.
Joseph will be sending this today. We believe that the project makes commerical sense (in advertising terms) and think it worthy of yielding a sizeable donation from their new financial year budget.
We are also in dialogue with, and in the process of applying to, a few major non commercial organisations, who have expressed encouragement towards our financial quest.
Historical Research
As mentioned in the last blog, we have also sourced some more documents from English Heritage regarding the excavation plans for St. Mary's Church, Cuckney by architects, Caroe and Partners (dated 1950 / 51). All of the diagrams have been sent today and a 28 page supporting document will follow early in January 2014.
Joseph has also been in contact with parties who may be able to put us in contact with the family of a key researcher from the original 1951 excavation. We hope that this could yet reveal some photographs of the original skeletal remains. It would certainly be something to bring to the next meeting !
In summary, Funding and Permissions are now approaching a critical phase and Joseph, especially, is continuing to work very hard every day to help bring this project to life.
Thanks for your continued support.
